Behind every order, collection and delivery is a team working to make the customer experience as seamless as possible.

In our latest Meet the Team feature, we introduce John Lawson, Head of Operations at Marantec UK, and take a closer look at his role across Production, Warehouse, Stock Control and Health & Safety.

Head of Operations at Marantec UK, John Lawson

John joined Marantec UK in December 2025, bringing with him three years of previous experience within the industry.

What does your role involve day-to-day?

With responsibility for several key areas of the UK business, John says no two days are ever quite the same.

“With responsibility for production, warehouse, stock control and H&S for the UK business, it is fair to say that no two days are the same.”

At the heart of the role is one clear objective: helping give customers a smooth and reliable experience with Marantec UK.

As the business develops, John’s role continues to evolve alongside it.

“A key part of my role is to develop and improve the team every day. Consistent wins improve how we do what we do and go towards enhancing the customer experience with Marantec UK.”

What do you enjoy most about the role?

For John, the challenge and unpredictability are a big part of what makes the role enjoyable.

He also highlights the potential within the team and the opportunity to contribute directly to Marantec UK’s continued development.

“I enjoy the challenge and unpredictable nature of it, the incredible potential the team has and being fortunate enough to be in a position to aid with the development and growth of the business.”

Supporting customer-specific requirements

A regular part of John’s role is helping accommodate specific customer requirements around the way orders are prepared and presented.

“Most questions are around the tailored presentation of orders, which in itself can present challenges. Where possible we will accommodate specific customer requirements to help in their efficient delivery of service to their customers.”

That flexibility is an important part of the wider customer experience, helping installers and businesses work more efficiently when their own requirements are not completely standard.

What do customers value most when working with Marantec UK?

John believes the personal relationships customers have with the Marantec UK team remain one of the business’s biggest strengths.

“The personal experience and ease with which their queries, orders and support requests are handled and the relationships they have with our team.”

He adds:

“Our customers have fast-paced businesses to run and their own customers to look after. Having a supply partner that can help make that easier can be incredibly valuable.”

That focus on making things easier for customers runs across the business, from initial enquiries and product selection through to Production, Warehouse and ongoing support.

Why is teamwork so important?

Teamwork is one of Marantec UK’s Core Values and, for John, effective collaboration between departments is essential to delivering a consistently strong customer experience.

“It is absolutely essential and the team at Marantec UK are exceptional at this. It is one of our Core Values.”

Sales, Production, Warehouse, Technical and the wider team all play their part.

“One of our common goals is to give every customer a great experience, find out where we can improve and continually push towards better.”

Looking ahead at Marantec UK

There is plenty happening across the business, and John is particularly enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue developing the team, strengthening customer relationships and supporting Marantec UK’s growth.

“There is so much to look forward to. Being part of the team as it and the business continues to grow, building relationships with customers to provide and develop products and services they want, continually developing the team to meet and overcome any challenge and assisting the wider business in any way I can.”

One area John is especially excited about is Marantec UK’s growing in-house manufacturing capability.

“We are really excited to produce barrels and engineer solutions for our customers on our Laser Tube Cutter and Laser Cutter.”

The investment in this machinery gives Marantec UK greater control over both general production and customer-specific requirements.

“The significant investment in these machines and the plans we have for them are really exciting and bringing the options in-house gives us greater control over general and customer-specific needs.”

As those capabilities continue to develop, they will play an increasingly important role in how Marantec UK supports customers with both standard and tailored solutions.

For John, that makes the next stage of the business particularly exciting: developing the team, improving the customer experience and helping turn continued investment into practical benefits for customers.
