We're thrilled to announce that Michael Hesse will be joining Marantec as our new Chief Technology Officer, effective January 2025. With a distinguished background in door drive technology, Michael brings invaluable expertise and leadership to our team.
Michael’s career began after studying electrical engineering, initially as a project engineer in process automation at VW in Wolfsburg. He later moved to GfA ELEKTROMATEN in Düsseldorf, where he advanced from door control system developer to technical manager, building a product management team along the way.
Since 2010, Michael has been involved in European and international standardization committees, both for application-related standards (C-standards) and for general standards of the Machinery Directive (Regulation). Michael has also been active as chairman and expert for the EU Standing Committee on Machinery. He also has extensive certification experience in the US and Western Pacific.
In 2021, Michael joined BBC Bircher AG Smart Access in Switzerland, leading product strategy and process development for the global sensor manufacturer.
But Michael not only has an impressive professional background, he also has a great personality. He is 58 years old, married and a proud father. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis and golf and was even a semi-professional football player. He is now looking forward to shaping the path of the Open Champion together with us: "I am delighted to be joining a company that wants to drive cultural change in its industry, because I believe that German SMEs - Germany's number one economic engine - should adapt to international speeds, technologies and collaborations."
We have known and respected Michael for many years, even as a competitor, and are delighted to have him join our team. With his wealth of experience and his motivation to drive innovation, technology and processes forward, he will enrich our company and the path we are on.
Michael will lead our product management and at the same time be responsible for the development of our industrial door operators.
